Where To Find Luxury Homes in Guelph

Are you contemplating moving out of the GTA and relocating to Guelph? You’re currently living in Kitchener-Waterloo and looking to move into a different kind of community. Contrary to what some may think, Guelph is home to a multitude of luxury communities with the same type of exclusivity, safety, and finishes found in more popular areas of Toronto, such as Forest Hill, Leaside, or Rosedale.
This post is meant to educate buyers on the best areas of Guelph for shopping for a luxury home and further breaks down who each community is suited for.
Exhibition Park Community
Known by locals for its beautiful, sprawling trees, storied homes, stunning character, and large, deep lot sizes, Exhibition Park is central to Downtown and full of luxury properties. Buyers looking to move into the Exhibition Park area will love the proximity to Downtown, being anywhere from a 15-20 minute walk, and the closeness to Guelph’s schools, making this option well-suited for families.
Families living in Exhibition Park enjoy a variety of lifestyle amenities: parks, walking trails, nearby outdoor patios, cafes, restaurants, gardens, etc. This area tends to be popular among Toronto buyers because the homes carry forward the same character as the storied homes you may find in Rosedale. Limestone exteriors, yellow and red brick homes, Tudor-style homes, and a perfect blend of modern homes that still complement the feel of the neighbourhood. If you visit Guelph and drive through Exhibition Park, you’ll notice the distinct old-and-new waves of architecture and how homeowners have intentionally incorporated elements of both into their exterior design.

St George’s Park
The terrain and topography of St. George’s Park are among the many distinguishing factors of this unique neighbourhood. Built on a prominent Crest overlooking the city, this area has been a longstanding community for luxury buyers. Many properties feature larger, sloped yards, tiered landscaping, and stunning city views. Most properties feature larger lots than the typical detached property in Guelph, creating more room to breathe and the potential for future expansion.
Compared to Exhibition Park, the St George’s area showcases a broader range of architectural styles and property types. While it is still home to the storied stone and brick homes that give the area its character, St George’s also features a mix of mid-century modern bungalows and design elements that trace back to the popular trends of mid-to-late 1900s custom-built homes.
Heritage Lake Estates
While this community isn’t directly in Guelph, we wouldn’t do this local guide justice without including it, as it is one of the most popular communities for luxury buyers looking for a little more peace. The community centers on Puslinch Lake, a local inland lake, with many homes offering lots that back directly onto the waterfront. Homes in the community feature sprawling lots, with some detached garages and many backing onto the mature green space surrounding Heritage Lakes.
The community consists of two phases of custom-built homes, with the earlier models built in the early 2000s and the most recent, substantial addition to Heritage Lake occurring in the last 10 years. Buyers, however, can expect homes that have been changed and modernized over time. You will love this community if modern design is more up your alley than the traditional character of older heritage homes.
Unlike moving into the more central communities in Guelph, Heritage Lakes doesn’t follow the traditional gridline of inner-city communities. Instead, it features smaller, interlocking streets and crescents that give it a uniquely separated feel. Home to true estate lots, many homes sit on more than 1.0 acre, which differs from the setbacks that are strictly restricted and costly in Toronto.
Prominent Streets Surrounding Guelph (Fox Run, Bridle Path and Serena Lane)
Like Toronto’s Bridle Path, a select number of streets offer the scale and range of estate homes luxury buyers most want. Bridle Path offers deep, wooded lots and some of the most private, covenanted homes in Wellington County. Lots range from 1-3 acres, giving buyers the flexibility to reimagine the current design and the property’s interior & exterior footprint. Many homes feature stunning backyard spaces with pools, outdoor entertaining areas, and beautiful professional landscaping.
Serena Lane is another designated street for luxury properties. All of these homes were custom-built and designed by their original owners. Many have been updated over time to reflect the modern architectural style common in Toronto’s luxury properties. At the center of this community is a gazebo/ common ground that creates a tight-knit feel; something that really distinguishes it from Toronto in the best way.
Fox Run offers a slightly different topography and feel than Serena Lane and Bridle Path. Perched on higher, sloping roads and rolling hills, the homes are uniquely designed to blend into the landscape and offer stunning, multi-dimensional views of the wooded areas and green canopies beyond. Many homes in this community offer walkout basements and a large interior footprint that extends lengthwise, creating ideal spaces for entertaining and multi-generational living.

Old University
Transitioning back into the inner-city areas, Old University is one of Guelph’s charming areas, where distinct character and design create an enticing architectural palette for luxury buyers. Close to the Cutton Golf Club, a private-membership golf course with some of the best greens in the city, and near the University of Guelph, this community offers a distinct, easy everyday lifestyle for families with kids.
The community’s overall historical pedigree makes it home to large lot sizes and is touted for its geographic positioning. Many buyers in this community have made these historic homes their own through extensive renovations and well-placed updates that let them retain their character and charm while thoughtfully blending modern finishes.
Geographically, Old University is framed by two of Guelph’s predominant rivers, the Eramosa River and the Speedvale River, offering easy access to trails, outdoor landscapes, and some of the most beautiful riverside parks.
Kortright East
Home to desirable luxury streets such as Monticello Crescent and Robin Road, this area of Guelph features homes that have been thoughtfully renovated and reimagined to be extremely move-in ready. The lot size offers buyers enough space for a lovely backyard without the extensive maintenance of 0.5-acre to 1-acre lots in some of Guelph’s other prestigious neighbourhoods.
Kortright East offers commuters the easiest access to inner-city, high-end neighbourhoods. Located a stone’s throw from the 401, buyers working in the GTA can access the main highways in 10 minutes or less. This area almost entirely bypasses inner-city traffic in some of Guelph’s more internalized luxury communities.
