What's Happening on New Year's Eve?
Sure, you could just stay cosy at home and maybe watch a good movie on New Year’s Eve, but since it’s THE party night of the year, why not live a little and get out there and enjoy it? There are things to do both with the kids and without. Here are some suggestions:
For the family
If you haven’t yet checked out Sparkles in the Park, Dec. 31 is your last chance to do so. Stay warm in your car as you drive through Guelph’s Riverside Park enjoying the festive light displays or park for free and take a stroll to see the displays close up. Carousel rides are free and for New Year’s Eve there are fireworks at 8 p.m. Get details here.
If a family dinner is more your style, Borealis Grille & Bar in Guelph and Kitchener holds a special four-course dinner and New Year’s Eve celebration with a kids’ countdown at 6 p.m. Dinner is $65 a person and reservations are recommended. Details are here.
Or you could hang out at Kitchener City Hall for the evening, where there will be all kinds of family fun, including special appearances by the Flintstone and Mystery Machine vehicles, crafts for kids, a breakfast cereal counter, skating, countdown and more starting at 6 p.m. It’s free, but you’re encouraged to bring a food bank donation. Details here.
Just for adults
Or you can satisfy your inner geek at the New Year’s Eve ToyCon in Kitchener, which features retro arcade games and more.
Want to tickle your funny bone for the evening? Then check out the 8th Annual New Year’s Eve Comedy Bash at Shoeless Joe’s in Guelph.
And, of course, if the idea of curling up on the couch with a crackling fire, a glass of wine and your favourite movie still seems the most appealing, then go for it! Happy New Year! Hope your 2018 is fabulous!
