Oh, Christmas Tree...
Real or fake? That’s often the question at this time of year.
Do you believe an artificial tree is less mess, more convenient and less harmful to the environment (it’s not necessarily, but never mind)? Or are you a die hard it’s-gotta- be-real- or-nothing advocate?
If real is your thing, there’s something to be said for choosing the perfect tree and cutting it down yourself. Here are some tree farm options in the area. Happy chopping!
Chickadee Christmas Trees
Offering pre-cut balsam and Fraser fir, scotch pine and spruce. There are also cut-your- own pine, spruce and fir (must be cut by 4:45 due to darkness). Enjoy the kids’ fun area, an interpretive nature trail and free cider and candy canes. The Christmas shop offers tree stands, wreaths, urn inserts, gifts and decorations.

Evergreen Tree Farm
Offering balsam fir, white spruce, white pine and blue spruce. They also bring in fresh-cut Fraser fir and you can cut your own or buy pre-cut. Sip hot apple cider, roast marshmallows on an outdoor firepit, relax and enjoy the warmth. There are also fresh wreaths, green arrangements, birch poles and urn filler.

Benjamin Tree Farm
There’s a new and expanded gift shop at this tree farm, featuring 50 local crafters, Evergreen Lane, greenery and decorating ideas and a selection of fresh Fraser and balsam fir. You can also hunt for your own on 40 acres of spruce and balsam. Saws provided. There are also potted trees available. Enjoy free hot cider, hot chocolate, orange drink & cookies, as well as popcorn, campfires, marshmallows and a children's straw play mound.

Forestell's Christmas Trees
Step back in time and enjoy the pioneer setting of this tree farm. You’ll find Scotch pine and white spruce, plus an historic log cabin and outdoor fire.
