You’d think it had never happened before. Here comes the annual March Break and we’re breaking into a “what will we do” panic.  Despite a fond love of our sofa, tv and video games we don’t want to waste this week so here’s the best of what the city has to offer to keep you sane and kids entertained.

Sure they’re busy but with many great museums in the area, this would be an outstanding way to spend the day whether its planes, dinosaurs, totems or fine art that floats your boat. Most museums have different workshops available to keep the troops busy too! Head to the Waterloo Region Museum and check out the new and exciting Tyrannosaurus Rex: Meet the Family Exhibit on display from February 3rd, 2017 - April 30th, 2017 - FIRST TIME IN NORTH AMERICA!

Make a splash and dive into one of Guelph's many pools or twirl around the skating rink for the afternoon! Check out the schedule here! Oh, and grab some takeout and a movie for later!

Sweet times lie ahead when the sap starts to run and sugar shacks open their doors in and around the area. It’s a pleasant time to be outdoors with the warmer weather but still some snow in the wooded areas. Boost your metabolism with a brief hike to burn calories and eyeball the metal buckets before indulging in maple flavoured deliciousness. The region has quite a few to choose from including Shady Grove Maple Co. and St. Jacobs Horse Drawn Tours - Maple Sugar Bush Tours.

If your kids still have energy to burn, try one of the many activity centres to stop them from climbing the curtains. Here are a couple of our favourites!  The Guelph Grotto Climbing Gym is something the whole family can enjoy, and they are also offering a day camp during March Break! As an alternative to bouncing off the walls, check-in at Skyzone in Kitchener or Air U in Guelph where kids can trampoline away excess energy.

Savour that last bit of winter and, weather permitting, head to Chicopee Tube Park!  Take to the slopes for some fun-filled tubing or relax in the log chalet overlooking the hills. The Chalet Café offers a variety of fast and hot food items.  If you are looking for a quick lunch, snack or hot chocolate to warm up!

Galaxy Cinemas always has great and inexpensive film programming so make a day of it and head out for a film, lunch and perhaps a spring outfit!

Finally, had enough running around?  You are now the confirmed master of keeping boredom at bay so grab a game, a great book, or DVD from the local branch of the Guelph Public Library and chill.
