Do You Have Plans for Valentine's Day?
It’s the middle of winter but it’s also one of the most popular days of the year to be out on the town. We’re talking about Valentine’s Day, of course. Whether you’re looking to celebrate with that special someone or prefer a family-oriented outing, here are some options.
Tea for two (or more)
This one’s a little ahead of the big day, but you can treat your sweetheart to a cup of tea, decadent sweets, and delightful company at Guelph Civic Museum on Sunday, Feb. 11. Enjoy live Celtic music by the Fair Wind. The 1 p.m. seating has sold out, but there is still room at the 3 p.m. seating. Cost is $15. Get details here.
Fresh & free
Take your partner for a long, slow stroll and enjoy the fresh air. Try the trails around Guelph Lake, or Riverside Park along the Speed River. Or perhaps you’d prefer to go skating at city hall, where there are plenty of options nearby for a hot drink to warm you up afterward. You could also enjoy Riverside Park's skating trail, just South of the carousel and concession stand!
Borealis is offering a special three-course Valentine’s Day dinner for $42.95 a person, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Reserve your table at borealisgrille.ca/reserve.
Robusta Café & Lounge is offering something similar, but they’re not limiting it to just Feb. 14. Their meal is $40 a person and runs until the 18th . Get details here.
Kicking it up a notch, the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory is holding what it calls a “special evening in paradise”. Take a romantic stroll through the tropical gardens & savor a gourmet five-course dinner for $62 each. Details are here.
Literally. This adult magic show is fun for couples and friends alike. A combination of classical magic & mentalism, the duo performing will leave you wondering just how they did it and, we hear, even had actor Jude Law calling one of them "a real mind reader." Details here.
Get a jump on the big day with a wine tasting event Feb. 13 at White Rabbit in Waterloo. An intimate event, only 46 seats are available, with five sparkling wines to be tasted. Cost is $35 each. Get details here.
Tiny Town party
Dress in your best and “dance until you drop” at Tiny Town Children’s Discovery Centre. Open from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., there will be music playing all day. Details here.
Say it with a song
Not sure what to get your Valentine this year? How about a singing valentine, courtesy of the Royal City Ambassadors and The Over Tones. For $50, you can have a barbershop quartet visit your sweetheart on Feb. 14 to sing a couple of songs and present chocolates and a rose. Proceeds will go to Ontario Barbershop Charities and Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis. To order, call Doug at 519-265- 5432, Marisa at 519-835- 7378 or Rick at 519-546- 4995.
